Meals Plus Customer Spotlight: Ashley Summers, Marketing Specialist

Ashley Summers is the Marketing Specialist for the Office of Food Service and Nutrition at Lexington School District One (SC). If that sounds like a mouthful, there’s a good reason, because she and the entire Office of Food Service and Nutrition are busy! They recently held their First Annual Lexington One Cooks cooking competition for students, hosted veggie prep demonstrations at a county-wide children’s festival, and increased participation with Birthday Rice Krispies Treats®.

The Dish: How long have you been using Meals Plus?
Ashley Summers: I have been with Lexington County School District One for four years, but our district has used the Meals Plus software system for over 16 years. We utilize the Point of Sale, Free and Reduced, Menu Planning, Inventory, Financial and Statistical, Accountability, PowerSchool Connector and Online Services components of the system.

TD: What duties and responsibilities does your position entail?
AS: My job is to market and promote our school food service program, as well as come up with creative ideas to bring excitement around school food.

TD: What aspects of your position do you enjoy the most?
AS: I love the creative aspect of my job. Creating new promotions and marketing materials is what I love the most!

TD: What do you like to do in your free time?
AS: I love to exercise and promote healthy living to friends and family.

TD: What is your favorite lunch when you were in school?
AS: Homemade chicken noodle soup with grilled cheese sandwich.
