Nourish NC: Nourishing New Hanover County Students Where They Live, Learn and Play

It has become a growing concern that for some children, the meals they eat in their school cafeteria could be the only meals they eat in a day. Providing healthy and nutritious meals to the youth of America outside of school is the focus of many non-profit organizations, including Nourish NC. They work hard to raise funds and gather food items to help feed children in a long time Meals Plus customer district, New Hanover County Schools, on weekends, school breaks and summer months.

They are currently preparing for their Summer Food Box Event, where they aim to provide at least 200 children in the Wilmington, NC area with enough food to last them throughout the summer. For only $90, you can help them fill a box to feed a child all summer! They are accepting food and monetary donations for the Food Boxes until May 31, 2012 (click here to donate via PayPal) and are boxing up the packages on Monday, June 4th, 2012 at Murray Middle School. This is a family friendly event that begins at 6pm (prep time begins at 2:30pm) and is sure to be an exciting time! Light refreshments will be provided and our unofficial mascot, Graham, will even be making an appearance. Follow Meals Plus on Facebook and Twitter to see all the excitement unfold!
